Make A Wish - A tech based charity initiative by Ideamart

Ideamart, the known name in Sri Lankan telco based tech landscape came up with a practical cool application to raise funds for a charity cause during this Christmas season to buy gifts for Jayanthi Infants Home, Colombo 07.

The Problem

Regularly we meet people in need reach out to society and request for money for a cause. It might be in form of a ticket, a slip, a sticker, making announcement in a van, request to deposit to a bank or some other ethical means. We Sri Lankan's truly love charity and to support causes. But sometimes we might not have money to donate or fear for breach of trustworthiness or no other way to make the contribution afterwords.

A Tech Based Solution

The solution is simple. We keep our phones always and we make sure we have credit in the account. Ideamart team did put together their Ideamart platform SMS API and Add to Bill API together to create a simple solution. It's a matter of typing a SMS with a keyword (Eg- WISH) and the donation amount and send to a particular short code (Eg - 77111).  This way donations can be collected easily.

This is initiated by one of the intern in Ideamart team and supported by team and the Ideamart eco- system. This project basically focus to raise funds to buy gifts for 20 kids in Jayanthi Infants Home in Colombo. The gifts which the team is trying to buy can be found from this link  www.ideamart.lk/makeawish. Donations can be made only by Dialog connections.
